It’s been an interesting winter. I’m on my 2nd round of a lingering cold that first began in November. I’ve been mostly functional, though it has certainly zapped my usual energy!
I’ve also been working on a new website and re-evaluating my message, offerings and lifestyle as a whole. The seeds of this shift were actually planted last spring, and I’ve had to be patient with it’s unfolding.
Our physical energy is the slowest to change. For we creative types, that can be frustrating because we create in a flash and then have to wait for all the details to come together. By that point, we are often on to something new.
It’s good to know, though, because then we don’t feel so invalidated when our physical and spiritual/ creative lives don’t match up. The truth is, sometimes we take a spiritual growth spurt and our bodies take awhile to catch up.
It’s worth it though– as any artist knows when she finally sees that finished painting, novel or film. It’s exhilarating too– as any yogi or dancer knows from feeling her life force expressing so powerfullythrough her body.
As for me, I’ve noticed the sinus congestion is an old pattern of over-processing. I got this from my lineage, and from school/ society where “having the answers” brought safety, and where thinking up new theories got me a prize.
The problem is that over-processing limits success and freedom in life. It makes things harder. It’s now “up” in my body because my spirit no longer supports it.
So, I’ve been brought back to one of the spiritual tools I learned in “psychic school”– the power of “hello.” The power of simply looking at something rather than trying to “figure it out.”
I remember when I was a student learning to give readings. The teacher would “hold space” as 3 of us students sat in a line reading someone from the public.
If the teacher noticed us getting stuck, s/he would step in and say something like, “Say hello to competition energy”. And we each used our energy clearing tools to release any competition we were bringing to the reading space.
It wasn’t about who started the competition or why, just about clearing it. This approach was so much lighter and often left us laughing instead of blaming, analyzing or feeling responsible. And it got us quickly back to the reading!
Simply saying hello to something is such a powerful force!
Let’s say you look beautiful but haven’t looked in the mirror lately. Let’s say you have amazing gifts that you’ve had all your life and so forgotten about them.
Wouldn’t it powerfully serve you if someone simply SAW you?
On the other hand, what if a wise and loving soul was there watching all the silly things you do in a day or week? We ALL do them.
Wouldn’t you feel empowered to change your un-helpful habits just knowing someone was watching and not judging you?
This is the beauty of spiritual readings and energy healing. This is what sets it apart from traditional therapy. This is why I love it so. It’s so much more efficient, freeing and fun.
Wonder if you’re over-processing?
Here are a few guidelines:
- You feel overwhelmed
- You can’t solve the problems you think about
- The voices in your head don’t make sense
- You let yourself feel all your feelings and it doesn’t help
- You can’t feel your body or heart and are thinking all the time
Did you get a “Yes” to any or all of these? If so, congrats! You’re over-processing!
What to do if you’re over-processing:
- If you cannot solve the problem or feel your way through the emotion, just STOP processing it. It’s not yours.
- Ask yourself, what do I think that processing this will get me? What is my desire or end goal?
- Once you know where you want to be, imagine going directly to it’s fulfillment. If you could take a leap to it now, what would that look like? What step would you take today? How would you show up differently in life? Do that now.
- If you feel stuck, take a walk, do something new, look in the mirror or talk with someone. Changing your environment, giving things some space and a new perspective is often the “hello” you need to shake off any excess complexity or confusion.
All the great spiritual masters I know laugh a lot. You cannot simultaneously over-process and laugh. And the more you see, and really look at what is, I guarantee you will laugh more.
I love being clairvoyant. The more I see, the more I get free. Because only the stuff we’re trying not to look at holds us back.
I love that I get paid to shine light into shadows. I love being “forced” to stay on top of my own stuff so I can serve you better. Truly, this is why I am here. So thank you.
There is a place for creative processing and there is a time to honor the body, our feelings and the physical world. And when you’re clear on what’s yours and you know your desires, there is hope even in the slowest growth process you’ll ever have.
